Strychnine Gallery Presents: GENTLE GIANTS

Today both the origin and the definition and the use of robots is often discussed and not only their design, technology and applications have evolved enormously, but also their design, function and general perception have changed in many ways. Nowadays, there are robots in all conceivable sizes, made of several materials and for any operations. Furthermore they are no longer just useful tools, but have evolved into often depicted and themed objects of pop culture and have also become subject matter and an expressive form of art. Cult films like terminator, transformers, RoboCop, the iron giant or Walle have portrayed the split perception of robots of society friends and helpers of the people but also as a dangerous threat.
