We now understand myth as bildhaft-exemplary narrative in which existential, exceeding the capacity of human reason experiences are depicted. Due to its complexity, the myth opened numerous interpretations for a variety of crisis situations. The abuse of the concept of myth operated mainly in the 20th century calls but also a critical confrontation with this in the sense of a work on the myth’. Venice lends itself for the myth-making. Due to its waterfront location, it is constantly and exposed in particular existential threat. In any other city, the contrast of beauty and transience, love and death emerges so clearly. So its possible demise is summoned again.
